An SMRT Experience…
Saturday, 25 November, 2006 at 3:37 pm | In Irritations | Leave a CommentEvery morning, the same group of people go to the same station and the same time takng the same train from their homes to work. Every day everyone look at each other like they are complete strangers…
#1 - Yet, I observe familiar faces since this is a routine that had been going on for months and even years. Familiar faces that are strangers nonetheless. Sometimes – I wonder – why can’t people smile at each other? Same grumpy faces or ones that remain emotionless. If we smiled at one another every day, soon the whole train would be a cacophony of laughter and fun! Hmm… maybe Singaporeans are just plain unfriendly. Or maybe, this is something that had been ingrained since young! Don’t speak with strangers…
#2 - And of course – many moments where I noticed people “sleeping” or looking elsewhere when it’s time to give up that prized seat to that needy person that just came along.
#3 – … you bump into someone and apologised only to have that person look at you with an irritated look.
The State of Toilets…
Monday, 24 April, 2006 at 4:29 pm | In Irritations | Leave a CommentI can never understand why people like to spit into the toilet urinal and pee like their dicks have more than 20 holes when it comes. And not to mention toilet paper clogging up the urinals – I mean – seriously! where the heck did they expect the toilet paper to disappear into?! For a nation that has come a long way economically and infra-structurally from 3rd to 1st world, our social etiquette is sorely lacking. Look at the neighbourhood coffee-shops and the state of their toilets. Look at the nice looking food-courts and the toilets…
I often wonder what is going through these people's minds and if the state of their home toilets are like that?
I dread having to enter a public toilet. If i had to take a leak, I could bear the stench but if I had an upset tummy, I would rather turn blue in my face than go into one of those! And so I came to the conclusion -
"The only clean toilets you can ever find in Singapore today is either in the hotels or Mc Donalds"
Which is one thing I commend about Mc Donalds really….
